Meet our Rector

The Rev. Phillip R. Glick is an Episcopal Priest and the rector of

Saint Andrew’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Nags Head, NC, arriving on the Outer Banks in August, 2010.  Well acquainted with Eastern North Carolina, he served Episcopal Churches in Moss Hill, Kinston, and Ahoskie NC before moving to Richmond, VA where he served as rector of St. David’s Church in Chesterfield County. Father Phil received a Master of Divinity from The School of Theology, The University of the South, Sewanee TN and a Bachelor of Arts from Methodist College, Fayetteville NC.  He was ordained a deacon on June 24, 1986 and priest on January 10, 1987.

Father Glick served as the State Chaplain for the North Carolina National Guard composed of over 13,000 Soldiers and Airmen.  On January 12, 2013 he retired from the National Guard with the rank of Colonel (Chaplin).  Among the many honors presented to him was the prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine.  This is among the most prestigious awards presented by the Governor of North Carolina.  It is presented to individuals who have a proven record of extraordinary service to the state.  Notable recipients have included Andy Griffith, Billy Graham, Coretta Scott King, Charles Kuralt, Richard Petty and Dale Earnhart to name a few.

Father Glick is married to his lovely wife of 35 years, Barbara Ilse (Muldrow) Glick.  Barbara and Phil reside on the Outer Banks and enjoy puttering about the garden, hiking the beautiful trails of the Outer Banks, and playing with their grandchildren.  They have three grown children all born and raised in North Carolina and who all seem to enjoy the fact that their parents now reside on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  Barbara and Phil like it on the Outer Banks, too.
