St. Andrew’s hosted Harmony Café last weekend. Harmony Café is a monthly program of GEM Day Services that provides lunch and activities for seniors with mild cognitive impairment and their families.
GEM Executive Director Sonnesso shared the following message and photos:

It was a good HC, a lovely lunch, good music, great friends and a really fun craft, everyone enjoyed it.
We all enjoyed the lovely lunch and the beautiful flowers and elegantly presented sandwiches, salads and cookies. We are grateful for the support of St. Andrew’s and the Women’s ministry. We enjoyed the fellowship of Chris, Mary Jo and Lib.

We applaud Wendy Furlough (OBX Hospital ED Social Worker) for her expertise and caring heart as she assists and connects families with services and support. Thank you Wendy for traveling to the Outer Banks from Plymouth on a beautiful Saturday morning to share this information with us!
Know that you have provided a wonderful afternoon for our GEM families creating an opportunity to enjoy spending time together in a beautiful space. We believe that a “Harmony Café” model of support for families with loved ones experiencing cognitive challenges could be replicated and beneficial for more congregations.

By 2030 “The Silver Tsunami of baby boomers” will all be older than age 65. This will expand the size of the older population so that 1 in every 5 residents will be retirement age, according the U.S. Census Bureau.
Thank you!
