There are many ways to participate in services and support the church. Please contact the Parish Administrator if you’d like more information about serving the congregation.

Acolytes

Youth acolytes process and assist the clergy during Sunday services and other services as needed. Acolytes are divided into teams with rotating schedules. Acolytes are required to attend a training session prior to serving. Acolytes also participate in the annual Acolyte Festival with acolytes from other churches from around Eastern North Carolina and Southeastern Virginia.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild’s ministry is to care for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the parish. Altar Guild members prepare the sanctuary for services and clean up afterwards. Altar Guild members also supervise the decoration of the sanctuary of the parish with flowers and other seasonal adornments.

Greeters

Greeters welcome members and visitors in the Narthex as they arrive and depart from each service. They answer questions, provide directions, and gather information from those interested in learning more about joining the church and those in need of prayer or pastoral care. Greeters usually serve one Sunday per month.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) administer the consecrated elements of the eucharist. They assist with communion during services and may also share the sacrament with members who may not be able to attend regular services.

Lay Readers

Lay Readers read the lessons, psalms, Prayers of the People, and other assigned readings during services. Lay Readers are scheduled on a rotating basis, usually serving one Sunday per month.

Ushers

Ushers greet people as they enter the church, provide bulletins and perform duties during the service, such as collecting the offering and directing the flow of parishioners to communion. Ushers are assigned to a team and generally serve one Sunday per month.
