Dear Friends,
I am delighted to share the great news that the Rev. Al Douglass has graciously accepted an invitation to serve as Priest Associate at St. Andrew’s By-the-Sea. Al is a retired Lutheran pastor who has completed the training, background checks, and diocesan requirements necessary to be licensed to serve as a priest and pastor in the Episcopal Church. Many of you already know Al and Carol as beloved members of our congregation. Over the past four years, I have had the privilege of getting to know them both, and I have come to appreciate Al’s wisdom, pastoral heart, steady faith, and genuine love for people.
This is a meaningful gift to our parish at an important time. Al brings a lifetime of experience in pastoral ministry and a deep commitment to the life of the local church. To begin, his ministry will include continuing to provide a pastoral presence for the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, leading Adult Formation classes, assisting with worship, and being available for pastoral care.
Al also has a particular gift for welcoming newcomers and helping people find their place in the life of a worshiping community. As we continue to grow in hospitality, belonging, and discipleship, I am eager to draw on that experience and passion.
I am deeply grateful that Al has said yes to this call. His presence will strengthen our pastoral ministry, support our common worship, and help us care well for one another. Please join me in welcoming Al in this new role and in giving thanks for him, for Carol, and for this good news in the life of our parish.
Faithfully,
The Rev. Nathan M. Finnin
Rector
